Freddy lies in hell waiting for an opportunity to get back to Elm Street. Reviving Jason to spread blood and fear, Freddy gains power with every kill. Lori lives at 1428 Elm and she is having some friends over. After a visit from Jason, the police are on red alert as they have a feeling it is Freddy Kruger. Soon, Freddy is strong enough to return but, Jason will not step down lightly. With two unstoppable killers on the loose, it's up to Will, Lori and their friends to put an end to the blood shed. A battle that spreads from Freddy's dreamworld all the way to Crystal Lake. When Freddy and Jason meet in the real world, the gruesome showdown begins... winner kills all!
It took over 10 years and 12 scripts later but, this film has finally arrived. Freddy uses Jason to spread fear and gain enough power to return. 'Lori' played by Monica Keena is trying to get on with her life after the mysterious disappearance of her boyfriend 'Will' played by Jason Ritter. Soon Jason strikes and the police want no one to say a word about what happened. To them, No Fear = No Freddy! But, it doesn't take long for Jason to spread fear through out Springwood. Robert Englund plays Freddy and Ken Kirzinger does a great job of stepping into Kane's shoes and portrays Jason very well. Both of the characters looks are returned to their original style. From all the scripts that were written, I think they picked the best one. It stays true to both franchises and mixes them together in a very believable way. From the beginning of the film you are hooked and the pace just picks up from there. Jason is in rare form as he slices and dices his way up and down Elm Street. When Freddy regains power, he and Jason meet in the dreamworld, as well as Crystal Lake. Great characters abound in this film, such as 'Gibb' played by Katherine Isabelle, 'Linderman' played by Christopher George Marquette, 'Freeburg' played by Kyle Labine as well as Lori and Will. Linderman helps 'Kia' played by Kelly Roland evolve as a character throughout the film. She picks on him at first but, when he finally stands up for himself her character changes to show him respect. This film has a comic book feel to it and because of Director Ronnie Yu's vision, the ending pays homage to the classic King Kong vs. Godzilla. What little CGI there is fits in seamlessly and the soundtrack is the best since Part 6 : Jason Lives. Watching these two go at it is just plain fun! Don't watch it over and over, you may start to see flaws that you did not see the first time. I myself a Jason fan and my Nephew a Freddy fan, had a blast at the theater cheering on our favorite psycho's. Freddy vs. Jason is one of the best New Line efforts to date. Just like with Part 6, Invite your friends, Turn down the lights and crank up the volume cos' this film ROCKS!
