After some experiments, Dr. Crews tries to convince Tina and her mom that she is just hallucinating but, he may be keeping a secret that might drive her mad. Soon Tina and her new friend Nick learn that Dr. Crews is not the only threat. But, Jason has never met anyone like Tina before. Will her powers be able to save her? 'The New Blood' is a fresh twist in the Friday the 13th series. The first Friday to feature the unforgettable Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees. Jason is back but, this time... someone is waiting!
'The New Blood' keeps up with all the features that have built up along the way in the Friday films. Some family characters, a few stereotypical teenagers and of course all the hackin' and slashin' you have come to expect from Jason Voorhees. Lar Park Lincoln plays Tina, a young woman dealing with the death of her father. Terry Kiser plays Dr. Crews, a twisted character with a hidden motive. Mrs. Shepard played by Susan Blu is very believable as Tina's mom, and the two have good chemistry. Another standout character is Tina's possible love interest Nick played by Kevin Spirtas. (credited as Kevin Blair.) A bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks who soon learns to see the world around him in a different way. Nick and Tina contrast each other very well with the addition of a jealous rich girl Melissa, who wants Nick all to herself. Other memorable characters include sci-fi geek Eddie and the stoner David just to name a few. Kane Hodder plays Jason for the first time and most will agree that he proved to be the man for the job. Jason not only looked his best in 'The New Blood' but, Kane gave him more of a personality with his body movements and worked well in the environments wearing the costume. (Not to mention the infamous sleeping bag kill). The final showdown between Tina and Jason is a classic of good vs. evil. This movie keeps the feel of the Friday films yet has a flavor all it's own. The score is very creepy as Harry Manfredini teams with Friday the 13th the series score writer Fred Mollin. The Friday franchise began to expand with the release of 'The New Blood', a video game for Nintendo and the launch of the T.V. series. This film has stood the test of time and if you've liked the other Friday's up to this point than you are going to love this one. Curl up on the couch with your loved one and get the popcorn ready Jason fans,.. you're going to have a bloody good time!
