Stu Charno Speaks On His Friday the 13th Experience with Scanjet
AKA Ted Friday the 13th Part 2 Regarding the film;
I was in my early twenties, when, after expecting that I was going to be a musician, and having graduated music college etc., the world of acting fell in my lap. A talent agent that I met in a club, suggested that I study some acting and that she wanted to represent me, and all of a sudden I did and so did she, and the next thing I knew, I was working as an actor!
For this one, we were taken to Kent, Connecticut, where myself and a bunch of other young actors, were to live in a Camp -- Camp Crystal Lake!
Well, actually it had another name, but I don't recall what it was. It was a great bunch of young, talented kids, off to the races! We stayed in the cabins on the site for a month or so, while they shot the film, using us as needed. My character was so close to being me, that all I had to do was memorize the lines and say them like I would, on cue. So what is seen is as close to being me, as I am... Perfect for an inexperienced actor. We got cases of beer to hold us over, and I recall stacks and stacks of empties sitting on the porch of my cabin...
Ahhh... the merriment of youth...
Some fantastic yoomies (humans -- y'know... you, me, "yoomies"), were gathered there. Amy Steele (who put me up for a bit when I first moved out to LA from NY), Kirsten Baker (as sweet as she is beautiful), Bill Randolph (I spoke to him fairly recently, and we laughed most of the time), John Furey (who I still see on auditions now and then) and a bunch of wonderful others, who will hopefully forgive my not mentioning them by name here.
We, as is always the case, had some time when we weren't personally working (as they were shooting someone else's scenes), so we got to hang out in Connecticut on a horror movie set and be young and dumm. We played practical (and impractical) jokes on each other, while we made horror history. What could be better?
I've got pictures captured from the dvd of the films that are on my website (www.StuCharno.com), along with a bunch of other stuff about me, but I'll attach a few pics here...
Keep me posted on your progress!
